Brazil's funk music

funk 鄉土爵士樂

Brazilian funk started in the 1980s in Rio’s suburbs and shantytowns – also known as favelas.

 

in a (blue) funk 心情低落/ 害怕/ 擔憂

 

例子：He has been in a funk since his dog passed away.

 

funk 因害怕而逃走/ 避開

craze（一時的）狂熱

例子：Teenagers like conspicuous consumption – they display everything they buy.

 

雖然有不少聲音批評這種鄉土爵士樂歌頌物質，但好此道者卻認為這僅僅是應對生活挑戰的樂觀表現：

Many of the 10 million funk fans spread throughout the country feel the music is a way to overcome their difficulties. The idea of “overcoming” is also commonly used by the singers to defend their odes to consumerism.

vs.

 

be used to + n./v-ing 習慣了的事

例子：He is used to being nagged by his mother.

例子：He is used to his mother’s nagging.

 

過去式也可以用啊！

► He was used to his mother’s nagging but now he is not.
