「中國製造(Made in China)」的貨品無處不在,因成本低廉而稱霸製造業市場之後,開始有人提出要轉向發展「中國創造(Created in China)」,希望帶動經濟轉型。Made of, made with, made by 又有什麼分別?Kevin會為大家一一解答!

While the ‘Made in China’ label has long held negative connotations, the newly embraced ‘Created in China’ designation celebrates a nation that is blazing a trail in manufacturing, technology and the new economy.

 

1. make + in / of / from / with / by

 

made in + place

 

made of = 由某材料製成

We use made of when we talk about the basic material or qualities of something. It has a meaning similar to ‘composed of’.

例子:This dress is made of silk.

 

made from = 由某原材料製成 

We often use 'made from' when we talk about how something is manufactured.

例子:Plastic is made from oil.

 

made with = 用某材料製成,常用於食品烹調

We use made with most often to talk about the ingredients of food and drink:

例子:This dish is made with chicken and herbs.

 

made by = 由某人或某公司製造

例子:This product is made by a famous company in China.

 

2. Connotation 含義

= association

 

derogatory connotations 貶義

 

► connote 有…的含義 / 使人想到

(verb 動詞)

 

例子:The “Made in China” connotes low-quality goods.

 

3. blaze a trail 開闢一條小路

= to do something that has never been done before

 

例子:The scout blazed a trail through the forest. (literal)

例子:China is blazing a trail in manufacturing. (figurative)

 

Higher wages means people in China will spend more and expedite the transformation of the economy. Moreover, it means that wealth is better distributed. 

 

4. expedite 

= speed up

 

► expedition 遠征 = trip

 

an expedition to/into...  去…的探險

to go on an expedition 去探險

to go on a shopping expedition 上街購物

1. 沒有半點懷疑,完全可以肯定 (idiom 慣用語)
