price out 因價高而令人無力負擔

例子：The cost of non-core items risks pricing poorer pupils out of some subjects.

例子：The coal is priced out of the market. 煤價定得太高，超出市場水平。

feel stigmatised　覺得被人看不起

例子：These costs can mean disadvantaged pupils miss out or feel stigmatised.

 

可是在英國，有些老師對家境欠佳的學生並不同情：

Some of the poorest said they lacked home computers and internet access, which are increasingly required for homework, and some teachers were unsympathetic.

 

unsympathetic + to

例子：The teachers are unsympathetic to the poor pupils’ situation.

 

要改善情況，還是要學校慎選教材為重：

The authors urge schools to "poverty proof" course materials and trips by limiting costs, and avoid elaborate uniforms.
