Waste reduction

In Hong Kong, 13,800 tonnes of wastes are disposed of in landfills every day. Every year, around 4 billion dollars are spent on operating the three landfills. Domestic waste comprises 40 % of the daily total landfill disposals. Source separation should be an important step in waste reduction.

 

dispose of

(phrasal verb 片語動詞)

reduction 減少

[countable 可數的]

  • troop reductions 裁軍
  • cost/price/rate reductions 減價
  • There is a 20 percent reduction on selected items during this sale. 減價

 

[uncountable 不可數的]

  • Many voters want to see some reduction of the deficit. 減少赤字
