翻查字典，當然找不到 hyperloop 了，因為它是為「超管道」這個嶄新構想創造的新字嘛！Hyperloop 由hyper 以及 loop 組成，兩者的意思猶如砌積木般組合為一，全賴 prefix (前綴詞)。Hyper-　就是一個好例子：

supersonic 超音速

 

例子：The hyperloop is envisioned as a supersonic transportation system which can travel at a speed of up to 1220 km/h, which is a speed twice that of typical aircraft.             

 

envision 擬想

(verb 動詞)  (i.e. to imagine something that you think might happen in the future)

 

例子：Musk envisioned a future of travelling from Los Angeles to San Francisco in just 35 minutes.

Merits of the hyperloop 超管道的優點

 

一般而言，在單音節形容詞後加上 -er 有「更… …」的意思，例如 safer是更安全、faster 就是更快；至於三音節的字，則在原本的形容詞前用 more，而毋須加 -er，如 more convenient。不過可不能一部通書讀到老啊！下面列舉了超管道的一些優點，不妨深思！

 

1. Safer (one syllable ► +er)

3. Lower cost (one syllable ► +er)  

4. More convenient (three syllables ► more + adj.)

Exceptions: more handsome, more polite 

5. Immune to weather

6. Sustainably self-powering

7. Resistant to earthquakes
