Body language

身體語言,反映一個人的狀態;

但原來改變某些肢體動作,不但會令人對你改觀,

更會反過來改變你的心態!

一個動作,背後可以是千言萬語:

Some people make themselves smaller by hunching, crossing their legs, wrapping their ankles, or holding onto their arms.

hunch 弓起背

(verb 動詞)

► hunch your shoulders (尤因寒冷﹑緊張等)聳起雙肩

= raise the shoulders and lean forwards slightly

► to have a hunch about sth / + that 預感

(noun 名詞)

= be sure it is correct

例子:I had a hunch

例子:I had a hunch that something like this would happen.

我早就預感到這種事會發生。

► a hunchback 駝背的人

(noun 名詞)

不過這個說法並不禮貌,會冒犯別人啊!

另一方面,除了肢體語言,表情也可代替說話:

A smile, a contemptuous glance, or maybe a very awkward wink can mean different things.

contemptuous

(adjective 形容詞)

1. 輕蔑的,表示輕蔑的; 傲慢不恭的

例子:She threw him a contemptuous look.  她向他露出輕蔑的表情。

► be contemptuous of 公開蔑視

例子:He was openly contemptuous of his boss.

2. 不顧危險的

例子:Contemptuous of the risks, he jumped into the sea to save his girlfriend.

雖說「人不可貌相」,但身體語言能影響你升遷的機會,甚至桃花運!

We make sweeping judgments and inferences from body language, and those judgments can predict really meaningful life outcomes like who we hire or promote, who we ask out on a date.

sweeping 總括性的

(adjective 形容詞)

例子:We shouldn’t make sweeping generalizations about school drop-outs.
