You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child.

蘇斯博士（Dr. Seuss）是美國著名作家及漫畫家，主要以兒童繪本為主，而且每部作品都有運用有趣押韻。如：Horton Hears a Who, A Cat in a hat, Green Eggs and Ham等。在他看來，只要有書在手，成人在孩子面前永遠不會太老、太古怪或是太瘋狂的──皆因孩子的想像力是無限的！

 

wacky 滑稽的；古怪的

例子：     He decided to become a clown to join the wacky world of the circus.

              他決定做一個小丑，加入滑稽的馬戲表演界。

 

wild 瘋狂的；狂暴的；猛烈的

(adjective 形容詞) 

 

例子：The audience burst into wild applause.  觀眾爆發出熱烈的掌聲。

 

例子：When I told him what I'd done, he went wild (= became very angry).

當我告訴他我的所作所為時，他暴跳如雷。

 

例子：The children were wild with excitement (= were extremely excited).

孩子們欣喜若狂。

 

例子：Her eyes were wild/She had a wild look in her eyes她眼睛大睜著，眼中充滿驚恐。

(= Her eyes were wide open, as if she were frightened, or mentally ill).

 

例子：His hair was wild and his clothes full of holes.

他的頭髮又長又亂，衣服上都是洞。

 

例子：There have been wild (= extreme) variations in the level of spending.
